In a world of filled with gurus and pundits barking at you telling you what to do, what if it’s pretty simple to transform yourself into a better human? And what if all our world needs to become a better world is a lot more better humans? Below are eight simple steps — habits, really — anyone can take that cost nothing at all, are firmly grounded in the Golden Rule, and will instantly contribute to creating a better world.

  1. Walk on the right, pass on the left — especially on stairs and escalators.
  2. Think of it as a “crosshustle” instead of a crosswalk.
  3. Return your shopping cart, always.
  4. Hold the door open for others behind you every time.
  5. Always use your indicator to signal which direction you are turning when driving.
  6. Always make eye contact when speaking to another human.
  7. Doorways are for walking through, not conversing in.
  8. When you are done eating, clean up after yourself and push your chair in, even at restaurants.

*If you are in a country that drives on the left side of the road, flip #1.

I’m curious what other simple rules to becoming a better human you would add to…
