Are you tired of only hearing about the biggest, fastest, and “best” of everything? What if there are some curious, fun, and valuable surprises lurking behind all those firsts?

What if some seconds are worth the wait?

A dozen years ago, my dad and I wrote a book called, The First Book of Seconds and, I thought what if we live through 2022 through a lens of two?

So welcome to the first in a series of Curiosity-Based Thinking activities taken from or inspired by The First Book of Seconds.

To start things off, as you read this excerpt from the Introduction to The First Book of Seconds, contemplate how 2022 can be a year of seconds and twos for you.

Why don’t you take a second to consider:

The secondhand on the clock is the one that ticks.

Your second wind is the one that makes you a winner.

A second nature comes naturally.

The second day of work or school is when things really begin.

Second thoughts tend to be the more rational ones. Yet, a second mortgage is the costly one.
