How much control will humans give AI for safer roads? Get curious exploring the intersection of safety, privacy, and sanity when it comes to how we design the technology designed to make our lives better.

The other day, I saw a car swerving on the 5 as the Tesla behind it promptly switched lanes and sped around it.

It made me wonder what if those two cars could actually communicate? What would they be telling each other? Would the swerving car be telling the Tesla it better get up and around because its driver was at the tavern for a tad too long?

That what-if lead me to wonder if either of the two cars would have an obligation to tell other cars… or notify the police?

Do the effects of car accidents matter more than their causes? At what point does one’s privacy encroach on another’s safety? Can you quantify your tolerance of human error (e.g. how many people can die from cars each year)?

What if there were a way to prevent most human error accidents?

But what if that safety would come in the form of our own cars alerting the authorities of our bad behavior?
